There’s not really any excuse for a Microsoft-owned game to not be Xbox Play Anywhere. If they’re going to make it exclusive, we damn well better get the benefits that are supposed to come with the platform.
Personally I’m fine with it not having cross-progression with xbox.
A modded save from PC will probably break when you load on xbox. Might even corrupt it.
Didn’t even think of that. It’s a great point.
Not surprising information, but good to have none the less.
It does look like it’s going to be a play anywhere title, though! So you can buy it once and play on Xbox/PC (Xbox app, not steam) and share a save file between the two.
In case you were wondering, Starfield will not support cross-platform progression.
Are you sure? The article doesn’t seem to think so. I’d love if it did though.
Yeah there was this old tweet from Bethesda that kind of confirmed it. Though I guess to be fair that could change. Most of their 1st party titles have had that option so I’d be surprised and disappointed if it didn’t.
That is fantastic news!
tbf it only says that you can play on both platforms… that doesn’t necessarily mean that the progression is shared.
A user above made a good point about mods breaking the save between platforms if it was. But having access either way is great.
yeah… and I just checked Skyrim and FO4 on the Xbox store. both of them don’t have “Xbox play anywhere” and therefore no shared saves. so it’s likely the same for Starfield.
And I get the thing about the mods. I was still hoping for cross platform saves, because I haven’t really decided yet whether I want to play on Xbox or PC. and it would suck to start over again after having played for several hours on one platform.
Crossplay? It’s a single-player game, isn’t it?
It’s almost as if these types of articles are just churned out to a template with as much seo as possible or something
I think it’s referring to cross-save functionality rather than playing with people on other platforms.
