The movie blew my mind when I was a kid, and I recently watched it again. I know people have mixed feelings about Jim Carrey but for me the man is a comedic genius and this movie is one of his best works ever.

I am not sure about the ‘one of the best’ part, but it is a great comedy movie. Disclaimer: I grew up on Tex Avery cartoons.

Is the Mask such an unpopular movie? In my own bubble, it is considered hilarious, so I am honestly curious on contrary opinions…

Is your next hot take going to be about how another popular and highly rated movie is actually good?

Maybe it’s my circles, but I often find myself as a minority with this opinion. I think it makes a difference whether you live in the US or not. I don’t, and I’m guessing you do. People that live in the US tend to have a tendency to forget there’s a world outside the US

People with the internet have the ability to see if something is popular outside the people they know personally.

I rarely see unpolular opinion posts that are actually about a legitamately unpopular opinion. Kudos. It was fine and on par for carreys work.

The directors commentary on the DVD release was super informative.

The movie was originally not going to be a comedy, but the writers struggled with the plot. The first day Jim put in the mask teeth he wasn’t able to speak normally, but after a day he has figured it out.
