Hey, German here. What the f*** are Americans doing at the other side of the Atlantic? Some of you already know this monstrosity. I did’nt. This is a Ford F650 Truck and when I stepped out of my Youtube Bubble I realized, it was marketed as the “biggest, baddest Truck on the road” for the everyday American. Are you guys serious?! Is the end goal really to drive a Monster Truck to McDs to get a McFlurry? Americas bloodiest wars have been fought in the middle east to secure oil, bombing nations to rubble. And all, for this bullshit? The excess, waste and decadence is mind boggling to me and people on Reddit seriously justifying this by “you know dude I’m 6,4ft. I don’t fit in any other vehicle” makes me go up the wall.

I’m not trying to brag… But I think it’s not a “I’m too big for anything smaller” it’s a “I’m too insecure for anything smaller”, aka “my dick is too small for anything smaller” syndrome.
I’ve recently made friends with a group of Germans who have come to Canada. I’m astonished by the practicality and industriousness I’ve noticed in contrast to the idiocy of most Canadians. I’m not saying you don’t have any idiots in Germany. I’m just saying culturally, there seem to be some big differences.
Remember, don’t let the dumbest of the world ruin your happiness.

It’s been my experience as someone who’s lived abroad a couple of years that in general, if you meet expats, they tend to be from the upper echelons of their native societies. They tend to be well educated and they have the time, the resources, the high-paying and internationally In-demand jobs, the language as well as the motivation to go abroad and experience something new. The expats you meet also don’t have anything holding them back, like E. G. a sickly relative.
All these filters make it more likely to meet interesting people.
Why d’you call them expats and not immigrants?
I think it depends on what they’re gonna do long term. An expat goes back to their home country after a stint lasting a couple years. An immigrant moves to the new country permanently, not just working for a short while.
I worked with expats at an old job, and had coworkers go abroad on expat assignments. It really isn’t that different in reality, especially as plans change. One of the expats ended up liking their expat assignments more than their actual job, and quit when they tried to put him back in the old position. Another one was so highly embedded within our work group that I was surprised to learn he hadn’t fully immigrated over.
Because I’m not a native speaker and I thought that was the right word 🤷♂️

But I guess high gas prices and smaller roads shielded us from much of this development. The next OPEC manufactured oil crisis will probably put an end to this. meh, I am 197cms and 150kgs and I can fit into a Skoda Fabia, but it’s not like it’s comfortable, I can also fit into my Hyundai i40 CW(or Estate or Combi), but I was on a safety training and If I set things up properly it’s too small for me, but I fit more comfortably in there, still my knee sometimes hits the ESR button and turns it off, which they for some reason put in a very stupid place, (it’s also under the heated seat buttons, so if you accidentally mishit it during winter, well that’s the time you really need ESR). So I could definitely use a bigger car, or a different layout, I was looking at the new VW id.buzz, since it’s a more upright seating position.
But yeah, if I can fit into a Skoda Fabia 1st gen, then Americans definitely have a big car fetish.

there are like 2 of these American Pick Up trucks where I live and it’s fucking comical how much they stand out, I wanna take a photo when I remember, but seeing them parked between the normal sized European cars it’s just something else.
