Hard day. Baby hasn’t been well. I keep getting irrationally angry at my partner too because I’m freaked out and projecting. I have managed to not actually say anything and just keep my emotions to myself but I’m exhausted from managing myself too. Baby will be okay but it’s hard when he’s screaming in pain 😭
If you have a car, then put the baby in a carrycot and drive bub around the block a few times. This really helps a colicky baby settle down. Having something to do with your hands (steering wheel) also helps oneself settle a bit inside. If no car, then put baby in pram and walk around the block a few times with bub instead. Warmly wrapped of course. Same effect. Also, we’ve all been there with colicky bubs. Part of baby wrangling, and not the easiest part. People talk about changing nappies, but colic management is far tougher on the parent(s). And so is teething. Remember this difficult situation WILL end. Heart goes out to you. Stay focussed on what’s going right.
You’ll have days like these, and this was definitely me yesterday when Little Man had kicked my ass all day long! Remember that’s it’s ok to say to your partner “tag, it’s your turn”, and take a break from everything for a little bit…even stepping outside for a 5 minute reset can make a huge difference to your sanity. It’s important to look after yourself, or you’re no good to anyone. ;)
