    just look at stray and feral dogs today. That’s what’s going to happen. Well, except they couldn’t take the subway anymore.

      I remember reading a sometime a while ago about a situation like this (humans suddenly disappearing). Some experts predicted that within about 20 generations the offspring of today’s domesticated dogs would have reverted back into something very similar to wolves.

    It depends on the species. Some dog species can survive in the wild, it really depends on the breeds and if they came from the wild (for example, coyotes can be let go if needed). The idea that all breeds are unified under a single umbrella of “dogs” comes from the Victorian era’s need to classify everything, it’s not accurate.
