Trying to attach an image to a post gives me a SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data error. Is this a me issue, this instance issue or a global lemmy problem?

The server is getting a bit overloaded at the moment, I think that’s a part of the issue at least. We are taking a look at it. Does it work eventually or just never?
Like all overloaded instances, it’s sometimes working, sometimes not (probably depending on how overloaded it is). Is there any potential upgrade plan (potentially taking donations), what hardware is used currently?
My 2 cents to this: Get a really beefy server and when the dust settles potentially downgrade it (or when userbase continually grows, keep it, or even upgrade it, and finance it via donations).
I think it’s an issue with
pictrsimage host Lemmy uses. Reducing the size of the image and/or trying a few more times are known to help.
