Put a wall there instead of kerbs and white lines.
better solution = drive better?!
I really don’t get the drama tbh… I mean half of the grid managed to stay within the lines to not get a penalty - so it is possible.
From the F1 games I know the corner is fun to “just send it”… but rules are rules, at least it is consistent now across all tracks with the white line.
Wasn’t it similar last year as well?
I agree with you. Track is a track. With curves, limits and that stuff. We all know they are faster if they don’t brake but… like in any other GP?
Haha, well put! The only thing I really don’t like at all is the fact that the final results changed so much after the chequered flag/podium… I think they were just overloaded with all the track limit violations
They were definitely overloaded. While driving in lap30+ they were still dishing out tracklimits for lap 11. They had a huge backlog to get through. After about lap 35 it looked like they picked up the pace, but seeing how many tracklimits they must, I think the stewards got a hurry up and became a bit sloppier. Although the last part is just speculation by me.
Like I said in the other comment, they should use a automated system…
I can definitely see them getting sloppier haha, I think it was like 1200 violations in total - I can’t even start to imagine how painful this must be
Piastri Demands - does he?
Oscar Piastri has called for “a better solution”
Silly Sensationalist Speedcafe.
Yeah gravel trap is always the solution. It isn’t dangerous like a wall if you spin in a high speed corner, and it magically reduces the amount of over the line incidents… Edit: and in hindsight if gravel would ruin other categories driving there, one could add a special rule about extra harsh time penalties on that specific corner (corner 10) or something, lol.
That’s a non-starter if you want to host motorcycle racing at that track.
Personally I welcome the new track limits rules, you step out of line you pay for it.
These are the best drivers in the world, surely they have enough control to make sure they don’t get a penalty.
Some of them managed, others not so much.
And I think it’s also not considered safe enough to retrofit gravel traps into places where there are safer solutions (like tarmac run-off)
There are dangers of cars digging in and flipping if I recall.Alonso Melbourne 2016. Car slides sideways into gravel, digs in, and flips: https://youtu.be/x45fLUTHCuk
Looked horrible, but lucky he walked away.
