I had a patch cable connecting directly to a net gear switch, it was happy with a gigabit connection.

Now i’ve extended the connection to the switch with ~14m of cat6 with a krone to rj45 connector rated cat6 on each end. Now the port connecting to my broadband will only run at 100mbps.

I don’t see any obvious issues with the connections or cable, and all of the patch cables in the network are capable of handling gigabit speeds.

Does anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this?

Sounds like some wires may not have been punched down completely. Gigabit Ethernet requires 4pairs of wires while 100Mbps requires 2 pairs.

You were spot on, i’m not sure if i’ve maybe bought poor quality cat6 but it seemed like the punch-down didn’t strip away enough of the sleeve. I reterminated using a cable tester to check the connections and got gigabit back.
