I have a Temtop air quality monitor and I noticed that when I place the unit on the top of a water cooler (Cooler has distilled water) that the reading goes way up. The top of the cooler is dry and there is no water anywhere outside the water cooler. The water cooler is not plugged in either.

Right next to the cooler (like 1 foot away) the AQI reading is 30, as soon as I put it on top of the cooler it jumps to 400+

I tried this several times and it does it every time. The unit just needs to be close to the water jug and the reading spikes.

Anyone else ever try putting their air quality monitor on top of a water cooler? Is this just something weird with this unit?

Try removing the water bottle from the cooler? That’ll help you decide whether the emissions are from the bottle/water or from the compressor.
