Hey all, I’m looking for a smart switch that plays nicely with smart bulbs. In a dream world it would have the following features:

  1. ability to cut power to the light ‘manually’ in case of network issues
  2. prefer sending power off/dim requests over homeassistant instead of adjusting line voltage and or cutting power (since the bulbs would be smart)
  3. Dimmer slider
  4. No neutral required

I think Zooz has the smart bulb compatibility I’m looking for but requires a neutral… Any recommendations out there?

If by chance you are using Hue bulbs, or Alexa so you’d have compatibility (might need a Hue hub though for Alexa compatibility) you could purchase the Hue remote dimmer. The newer (2nd gen) version looks like its wall plate holes will line up with a U.S. standard outlet box. Durring a recent internet outage in my house my Hue remote dimmer switches turned my Hue lights off and on & dimmed just fine.

I use ESPhome for this, loaded onto a standard TreatLife Smart Switch.

the switch has two ‘modes’: Interlocked and Always On

in interlocked mode, button press triggers the relay, just like every other switch

In Always On mode, the relay is closed (connected), providing power the bulbs. The button just sends a HoneAssistant event that triggers an automation turning the bulbs on.

Yep, like others mentioned it’s innovelli

Another way to get any neutral required switches working without neutral is this small hack

As for sliders, that’s gonna be pretty hard to get since the ones that do have it are connected to tuya mcu so you can’t decouple the relay on those even with esphome. Except paddle/button dimmer like martin jerry and tessan.
