Hello! Peruvian genderqueer (living in canada) here–how do I express my gender in Spanish? I was using duolingo for a while to try and learn spanish so I can go to Peru to visit my grandparents someday. part of why i haven’t in a while is because I have a whole alphabet soup of neurodivergence and Doing A Thing Consistently is hard. But also I get some dysphoria from trying to refer to myself in Spanish. I describe my gender as “genderqueer/genderfluid in the cool xenogender way,” in that my gender shifts and changes, but has very little relation to the binary or even to like. Humans. I’m snails and lichen and mushrooms and barnacles. I use all pronouns, including neopronouns and it/its. I barely have the means of describing myself in English. I don’t know that I can/should say I’m trans/nonbinary/queer in Peru anyway, since it can get you arrested there (although I have a certain amount of privilege being cis passing.) But I want to be able to explain it to my grandma and grandpa at least. How do I describe myself, and my gender? What pronouns and conjugations should I use? Are there neopronouns in Spanish? (I’d understand if you don’t know/cant answer, but i can’t really find this information on like, mainstream language learning blogs haha. If you can point me to any resources that would also be helpful)
