Rise of the Ronin is made by Team Ninja and Published under the PS Studios Brand, same with Helldivers II (Arrowhead Game Studios). Technically independent, so those are basically Second Party Titles. Not disagreeing with you, but I’m hoping those release with more polish and care given the PS Studios branding.
Basically, if it’s only PS exclusive(like not coming out to PC in 3 years like GoW), I would consider. But other than that I will just get the PC version when possible. Sony needs to do 2 things to get me back to the platform like I used to.
allow save file back up/restore per game directly from firmware to USB.
make cloud save feature not needing ps plus. (they can offer less storage compare to paid plus member I don’t mind, but at least the game’s cost should be able to keep like 3 save slots. )
This is the exact state I’m in, down to a t. I was begrudgingly paying for ps plus just for the peace of mind that comes with having cloud saves even though I don’t play multiplayer or care about their free games. So basically I was already paying an unnecessary subscription for a feature that Sony decided to soft lock for dubious reasons. I made the switch to PC gaming recently and turned off auto renew on ps plus and removed all payment methods. My PS5 is just collecting dust now.
I also double check to make sure my sub is gonna expire and removed my CC info. My PS5 is pretty much going to collect dust and I rip the SSD out to fit into my new PC and removed extra games I installed since it makes no sense to keep playing non first party game on PS5 at all. I did a quick review of the PS Plus library, and then turns out I don’t care about those games at all. I will still go back and finish H:FW Burning shore and GoW:R Vahalla. And then it will probably be unplugged until there is a newer Sony first party game released that I want. Say, Santa Monica or Sucker Punch, after H:FW I don’t give Guerrilla Games that much expectations. Oh, if there is a new Astro Bot game I will probably buy it since my son love that game a lot, I am going to train him to get better at Mario though with Odyssey and maybe Wonder.
Now, if anything, I’d like someone make a programe so we can “suspend” games on PC, that would be the ultimate thing PC game is lacking at the moment. Some game’s saving point or mechanism is very spotty and could get a long time to get where you can safely save and quit. so suspend instead of quit the game is usually better so I don’t stay up too late. XD
I think the suspend feature that you’ve mentioned might actually happen. Handheld PC gaming is gaining traction and if rumours are to be believed , Microsoft is working on a lighter version of windows, optimized for gaming and I imagine it might include some form of suspend and resume. Of course it may not be compatible with all games but if it can get to a state similar to atleast what steam deck currently does , that itself might be a welcome addition.
Yeah, I don’t mind a bit of loading time etc, but being able to suspend game and switch to different thing on the fly is the ultimate goal for old gamers.
I am not buying any non first party games after the ps plus price hike, and I did not see any first party games here.
