The impact of soaring food prices is taking a hard toll on B.C.'s food banks, which have seen increasing demand in the lead up to Thanksgiving – including among double-income families.
That’s a complete cop out. You’re acting like adults can’t figure out how to follow a recipe and don’t own a single pot or knife. If they can’t do that, then they probably can’t hold down a basic job either. I couldn’t cook a damn thing when I moved out on my own, but even before youtube I still managed to read a few 100 simple recipes cookbooks and keep myself fed.
I spend less time actively cooking a chicken soup from carcass than most people would take to drive to the nearest mcdonalds, and it’s 10-12 servings which can easily be frozen and reheated in a Ziploc bag. I don’t count the time I’m watching shows while it simmers. Two full time working parents and we put a home cooked meal on the table 13 out of 14 nights. That’s using leftovers, because we aren’t stupid about trying to cook every night.
If you’re single and living in a dorm with no kitchen I can see the problem, but at least where I live everyone housed outside that has a stove and oven. Goodwill will sell you a pot a pan and a knife for $20. That’s all you really need.
