I was previously using the Heavy Greatsword with a Heavy Gem (I think?) that makes its Str scaling go up to A but have discovered the Farron Greatsword for myself and am liking the moveset a lot.

Since I had previously been speccing for Str, I have 34 Str and only the required 20 Dex with a ring for the Farron Greatsword. Should I focus on Dex now or should I keep leveling Str? I think soft caps are a thing and the C scaling vs the D scaling is also telling, but I wasn’t sure regardless.

Thanks!

Sounds like your previous souls experience is helping a lot. Pontiff is pretty easy imo, but a lot of people seem to struggle with him. Aldrich isn’t bad either, though a lot more interesting at SL1 which I recommend trying at some point. Same for Dancer, can be really tough but is manageable once you get the move set figured out. She’s also really fun to fight early when underlevelled or at SL1, and is a gatekeeper to lots of upgrade materials.

I think the remaining base game and DLC bosses will give you a run for your money and a decent challenge. Looking forward to hearing more about your experience!

Very likely, yes. Most bosses here feel to me like Demon’s Souls bosses: primarily gimmicky and very predictable. Some are definitely more of a challenge but many are a breeze. Like, I’ve fought Isshin, beat the true ending in Lies of P + DLC, and I beat Khazan. I don’t think it gets crazier than that in terms of boss difficulty, especially Khazan’s final boss (maybe PCR, but I haven’t gotten that far yet - only heard that he’s impossibly difficult, even after the nerf).

I’ll think about it! I tried a BL4 run of Bloodborne and got through most of it; stopped around Living Failures in the DLC and didn’t play further than that. I could imagine that SL1 in DS3 shouldn’t be that difficult.

Looking forward to it, will do :)

Sounds like maybe DS3 is starting to show its age when compared to those newer games. The envelope keeps getting pushed.

Agree about PCR. Hardest Fromsoft boss by far. I haven’t managed to beat him solo yet. Usually the bosses feel fair, but he’s on another level lol.

Yeah DS3 at SL1 isn’t too bad because like you said, bosses are pretty predictable and their moves are well-telegraphed. SL1 really lets you feel the rhythm of the fights since you can’t just trade hits. Since you beat Sekiro I think you’d be ready for it.
