I have a Dell Optiplex 7070 SFF where I’m currently running Nextcloud and a couple of Docker containers. However, I’m planning on buying a 10-12TB WD Elements and shuck it to use it as a NAS and run Plex. The thing is, do you think I should leave the PC on all day? Because maybe I don’t use Plex everyday and I don’t want to reduce the HDD’s lifespan… Do you turn off your homelab at night?

Every modern hard drive will park platters when not in use. It will not reduce lifespan to leave it do its thing.

But there could be other reasons to turn it off.
