I curate/mod [email protected]. It’s dedicated to “tycoon simulation” and management games. Things like Rollercoaster Tycoon, Transport Fever and Project Highrise.

While engagement and posts not made by me could be better, I feel like there is a solid growth trajectory.

I also have a Mastodon account:

https://mstdn.games/@Landgraab_Industries

I cross-post (manually) more prominent posts from the Lemmy community. I do get some engagement, but subscriber growth is very anemic.

I always add tags and I try to make the posts appealing.

Any other tips to help gain (organic) subscriber growth on Mastodon?

I’m sorry, I don’t really have an answer. I did just follow you on mastodon and I’ll try to boost you from time to time. If people don’t search for tags then word of mouth is the best way to get visibility.

      Thanks!

No worries, I honestly like the forum format more.

I am just curious if I am missing something. Mastodon has x20 MAU of Lemmy, yet I get much more engagement/sub growth on Lemmy. The niche nature of the topic should have a comparable impact on both platforms, there is nothing about Lemmy that would boost popularity of tycoon gaming discussions relative to baseline.

Could the fact that I am using a smaller Mastodon instance have an impact?

I think the instance size definitely makes a difference. I expect users on smaller instances need to work harder to get visibility on larger instances.
