The article fails to mention that the very existence of Arlington National Cemetery is a “woke” snub to racist traitors:
the land was taken from Robert E. Lee, the racist general who chose his racism over his oath to his country, and from his wife
it was needed because the existing military cemeteries were full, thanks to… racists like Lee who chose their racism over their country
The first “fuck you” at Arlington to the racist traitor Lee was to establish a village for freed people in the southern section, with a school and fields to farm. Called “Freedman’s Village”, naturally.
Later came the cemetery honouring those killed by the racist traitors, once the government prevented the racist traitor’s wife’s agent from paying back taxes.
However, in the late 1880s, the government evicted the villagers.
Although in the ultimate “fuck you” to the villagers, it’s part of the “Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial” site. Because racist traitors wrote a law that said that racist traitor and killer of Americans was “a great American, and a truly great man through the simple heritage of his personal traits of high character, his grandeur of soul, his unfailing strength of heart” who deserved a memorial.
There is a resolution to change that, https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/hjres63/text , but in a Congress full of people who wished they lived in the Confederate States rather than the United States, I doubt it will pass.

I see however that the official cemetery webpage on the Freedman’s Village is still up: https://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Explore/History-of-Arlington-National-Cemetery/Freedmans-Village
Also the National Park Service page about the village: https://www.nps.gov/arho/learn/historyculture/emancipation.htm
