Ah yes, an update of fennec fixed this. I guess this means I’m on the new unpopular firefox licensing everything you type terms of use. Did they break that to force everyone to the new deal?

2008 called and they would like their meme back
Everything is broken good job
As long as it does not infringe on the rights of school shooters I don’t think there’s any limits on how much students can be oppressed in school.
Courts, are an illegitimate instrument of power their decisions irrelevant, their ruling moot. This contentible organization will be dismantled along with the rest of the establishment.
Oppress furries Get cyberhacked
Time to take out the trash
Give up is my middle name Fuck “give up” That McGee the 3rd
That 15k big community, 5k dissidents and sub100 irrelevant.
Actually that’s a clear demonstration of the system’s failure.
There should be 2500 politics, not 3. And you shouldn’t need to post in 3 nor 2500 to reach the 20k people.
This is because if you click on this /c/politics Which you can’t because it’s broken But if you could, you should see everything in every 3 or 2500 politics community.
But you can’t. So if you want to be heard then the big community is the place you shpuld always post, unless your a dissident, in which case you will only have a 75% handicap and have to hope the dissidents don’t also hate because then it is game over.
Btw multireddits dobt fux this, because there would only be 40 people that took the tine to setup an account multireddit of the 10 biggest ones. And 0 would add the 2500 politics communities.
Frictionless migration of communities and users
Subscription based, crowd source moderation (that everyone is expected to contribute to)
And automatic aglomeration of all fediverse wide same name communities on /c/communityname
Or bust
And its going to bust, because that means instance owned ceding their structural power and tge moderator delegates ceding their systemic power
Ain’t gonna happen
Enjoy living in the farm!
It’s classic false consciousness of the temporarily embarrassed billionaire, except for the benefit of the blood 🐭 mouse in this case
Yes, lemmy still concentrates power in the hands of instance owners and their moderation delegates. This structures all discourse and communitiesin a certain way, discourage experimentation, alternate topics and viewpoints but instead focuses attention toward, for each topic, “the one big community” and its contingent idiosyncrasies.
Only way around this is transparent multiserver communities and frictionless account and community server migration.
Without this the same structure of power will always replicate itself.
Try another planet which is not on fire, sorry for going all political on you!
Put content discovery algorithms in the hands of the users. Fully auditable, open source, open standard API, locally running, crowd sourced preference publishing, with subscribable moderation that everyone contribute to, no centeralized control node, with history based reputation weighting, simple to use and “white boxed” fully understandable inner working the user and tunable by the user withput having to ask anyone’s permission.
They’re unprofitable as it is already. They’re not going to be able to generate enough upfront capital to buy and then enclose all of humanity’s previous works to then sell it back to us. I also think it would be heinous that they could enclose and exploit our commons in this manner. It belongs to all of us. Sure train it and use it, but also release it open (or the gov can confiscate it, fine with that as well). Anything but allowing those rat-snakes to keep it all for themselves.
I’m not just a copyright abolitionnist, I also abhor all intellectual property. Yes, even trademsrk
Duplicate communities aren’t a replacement for subscribing to moderation. If we split a community in 10’000 pieces it would not really make sense to call what remains “a community”.
Even now when a community has a schism and you get only one alternative, that community gets split in something like 90/10 and it becomes a distinct community, not just a choice to ignore top mod’s authoritarianism. In partice most modetators remain impeachable and their abilitt to shape what the community is unchallengeable without everyone facing nearly insurmoubtable friction, like the need to entirely reorganize as a group and basically start over the community.
Ultimately lemmy and reddit exist to concentrate soft power of persuasion in the hands of a few and this is structurally, systematically assured and I don’t think this will ever change on lemmy, we’re already in too deep.
This is the future for the next decade. It will not change without going through the cycles of abuse over and over while the moderators will suppress any public awareness of their biases and abuses, suppress any form of organizing against them and this will continue until the unignorable stench becomes impossible to ignore. Until then, just suck up to whatever the mods tell you to believe, keep your head down and just try to survive.
They are socially stunted gremlins, they don’t really understand what other humans are
The niderators ARE the problem. Their task is impossible and futile. Everyone has to do it and that means the infrastructure for it will not exist as long as a team of idea shaping moderators stands in the way.
We need
Locally running open source content discovery algo
Locally running user reputation evaluation
Subscribeable moderation actions
Crowd sourced reputation weighted moderation
The ability to tune all those setting under the hood
Manifest!
I wish I could have gotten that without a version update. So old version are borked now?
