Obviously wished our boy Musiala could/would win it, but there is no doubt Bellingham 100% deserved this one. Congratulations!

Deserved. If he is kept healthy I’m sure next year the Balon d’Or should be his.

Champions league will dictate the narrative as it always does. Madrid will have to win it again and have Bellingham as their best player. This season is actually his best chance as they might get Mbappe next year who will surely outperform him in the goals department.

depends if it’s for the year 2023 or the season 2022/23. If it’s the former I would agree. If it’s the latter I would disagree. Even Bellingham winning shouldn’t be uncontroversial for the 2022/23 season even if it isn’t undeserved

Because it was based off last season Musiala deserved it. But let’s be honest all these football awards are just for who’s the most popular. And we know Bayern gets no hype of recognition. This shouldn’t surprise anyone lol.

Has anyone won the golden boy one year and the Balon D’or immediately the year after? Because my boy seems like he could do it at this pace

Remember the shit everyone gave him when Birmingham retired his number after he left. We all did.

Was rooting for Musiala. But clearly, this season dominates the previous one in voting. Congratulations to the fans and media, I guess.

Or just people who find it unfair to Haaland? He’s only getting it because it’s him lol, any other player in his place (except ronaldo maybe) with the same stats and he 100% doesn’t get it over haaland

I agree its a popularity contest but both Ronaldo in 2013 and Messi in 2019 absolutely deserved the awards those years.

Modric won in 2018 for coming second in WC over Ronaldo. Messi not only won the world cup, he won the cup as the best player of the tournament. Haaland was absent in the big games of the man city UCL win but Messi was motm of every game outside the group stage.

People suddenly started criticizing world cup like crazy since Messi won it as if it isn’t the most prestigious award for any nation and the most sought after by players. To win the award as the best player and complete the year with highest g+a is always enough for a balloon d’Or

You’re right but some people will never admit it. No point arguing with them.

Last year they discounted Messi for not having a world cup, this year there will be something else, and in 40 years they will argue Ronaldo’s enduring Instagram popularity had a bigger impact on the sport etc. etc.
