Paywalled, but that might be for the best considering most parents have absolutely no understanding of pedagogy.

Added the links to the archive. It’s really hilarious how they’re discovering schools all over again:

Often as well it makes sense for the parents all to contribute a little money so that instead of the parents having to teach things that they are not expert in, the can pay as a group for someone with subject expertise to assist.

It can be problematic though gathering so many kids into one house for group home schooling, so another exciting development in modern home schooling is when a location is found somewhere in the community for it to happen. Again, if the parents pool an amount of money each then such a location can be leased long term and can be set up with desks and chairs for the kids

Much obliged. The reason many of them homeschool isn’t because they think it is the best method for schooling a child, it’s because they’re terrified of the child learning some evil secular thing that their god doesn’t sanction. And yes, it does sound like they’ve rediscovered the private school and just added steps.

I was homeschooled for a year and both my parents are incredibly secular. I’m assuming it was my Mom’s idea though, maybe thinking that schools were trying to indoctrinate us or something.

For some reason the responsibility fell on my Dad to actually do the teaching, which he never had the patience for and he worked full-time, so he didn’t even have the time for. They were woefully unprepared for the actual task of teaching and it ended up being a year-long extended summer vacation for my Sister and I. My Dad had given us a math textbook and I think some daily reading requirements, but I don’t recall there being much active attempts at teaching in an organized way.

Yeah, you should probably leave teaching to professionals who have actually studied teaching methods. If it looks easy, it’s because talented people are making it look easy.
