Jones fretted that streamers and podcasters are bringing in views that cable news cannot come close to touching.

Maybe stop being entitled to exponential profits and come back down to earth. These shitheads don’t think for a second how increasing prices, and fragmentation can only ruins peoples’ tolerance of corporate propaganda they hawk on the daily.

Because Corporate Media outlets have an old way of doing things. And when they try to do something ‘new’ it comes off as weird and out of place. No one wants to see a newsreader standing in the middle of a studio reading the news. Give that person a chair, it’s weird. And why are reporters standing in dangerous storms outdoors? Corporate torture? And ‘live’ reporting from a dark parking lot that could be anywhere is stupid. What is happening right now? Where is the ‘live’ story happening? Plus the line up of on air personalities seems to be delusional. Where is the actual journalism? It disappeared 25+ years ago. Now it’s just psychopaths with antiquated opinions being featured. And sensationalistic freak shows. What happened to actual news.

Well yeah. The mainstream media is so bad that of course relatively young people are not going to want to watch it. Of course everyone has their own reasons, but I would say that the 24-hour news cycle especially in the months leading up to the election has in the past many years been a great reason to stop watching network TV news.

If “mainstream” media is ONLY getting 1-2 million views and “fringe” networks are getting 14 million doesn’t that make the fringe mainstream and mainstream fringe? A week or so ago Meidas touch (rank 2 on yt, up from 6th) beat out Fox (dropped to 4th from second)

Try to stop lying and sane washing, do actual news again maybe that would help.

Are we supposed to weep that van jones’ employers are losing market share? The news is almost completely editorial now anyway, masquerading as news. What did they think would happen?

Online news channels like TYT get way more viewership than CNN or CNBC. Hell, even smaller YouTube channels have better viewership.

People are sick of the corporate bootlicking crap. There’s major right wing channels funded by billionaires, there’s corporate channels that are dying off, and there’s left wing channels funded by viewer small dollar donations.

Very much so. There is also this concept of groupthink. Basically, if a few loud people online or bot accounts support a particular opinion, then people see that & their viewpoint becomes similar to how they think others view the issue. We are generally taught to try to fit into society, so if people believe that society thinks or feels a certain way, then they will often try to follow suit. Especially if they see others being ostracized for having a different viewpoint. However, that doesn’t mean that the viewpoint was right or correct. As we see throughout history, the general public can often have very different ideas than the innovators & independent thinkers. I’d much rather we teach people to be authentic to themselves & to reach their own conclusions, and stop grouping everyone into two sides that must agree on everything.

No, people love being lied to, they just want their flavor of lies whispers into their ears and nothing else. They don’t want news, they want affirmations that they’re right all the time.

And that’s what social media and a lot podcasters, like Rogan, do.

I remember once randomly turning on CNN maybe 5 years or so ago. It was just people yelling at each other. Maybe I got unlucky but I don’t want to watch people angry at each other. Perhaps I picked a bad time and it’s not normally like that but what I saw was enough to turn me away.
