If you enjoy rhythm games, Melatonin is worth looking into. It’s like Rhythm Heaven but with a lo-fi, mellow feel. What makes me want to recommend it here specifically is that the game has a custom display setting calibrated for the Steam Deck’s screen which I thought was really cool!
The game itself isn’t that long and can be beaten in a couple of hours but there are of course harder difficulties and perfect scores to aim for which add some replay value. I personally really enjoy the soundtrack which helps too since it does feel a bit too short otherwise.
If you enjoy the aesthetic, but struggle with rhythm, the game also has accessibility modes that help you to get better with the timing instead of just skipping the level entirely.

This looks relaxing and I like the
anesthetics(weird autocorrect) asthetics too. Thanks for the recommendation.Love rhythm games, hadn’t heard of this one, and I’ve been looking for new things to download ready for going on an internet-free holiday soon.
This recommendation was basically made for me. Thanks!
I’m surprised to see there’s so many fellow rhythm game fans here, I’m glad you enjoyed the recommendation! The only issue with the game as I said is that it’s not long at all so perhaps plan to bring a few more rhythm games too 😅 You might like Crypt of the Necrodancer if you haven’t already played it!
Honestly I meant to get that all the way back when it came out and somehow never did, but you’re right this is the perfect time. Thanks you’re a
terriblegreat influence!Haha, I guess I’m glad to be an influence for better or worse! I would say Crypt of the Necrodancer is less of a traditional rhythm game and more of a game where you act on the beat but it offers a lot of gameplay if you’re into that. I find it satisfying in a similar way at least! Do you have any rhythm games you can recommend?
I do not. In fact I’ve been too embarrassed to reply to this comment for 2 days because the truth is I’ve not had as much time for gaming as I used to, am getting old, and I’m basically entirely out of the loop.
But then I remembered this isn’t Reddit and I probably won’t get attacked for admitting it, so here we are! This is part of why I’m really looking forward to our trip in a few weeks. No internet connection, just some stuff I download in advance, it’ll be really nice to catch up on some things I’ve missed!
Also I’ve just stumbled across [email protected] (Lemmy / Kbin) which looks decently active and is going to do real damage to my wallet, worth a look if you’ve not seen it yet 🙂
Totally understandable to be honest! As I’ve gotten older I’ve felt like I have less time to invest in games and before getting a Steam Deck I was barely playing anything.
Games on a trip with no internet sounds ideal though, I hope you have a good time!
I actually hadn’t seen that community, there was an older one than I’m a part of but it’s not as active so thanks for sharing! My wallet will also suffer in solidarity 😅
Enjoyed this one on the Switch, definitely a fun time. Some of the music is earwormy in all the good ways.
Agreed, I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed the soundtrack! I’ve had it on repeat on Spotify but I wish they had versions with the in-game sound effects too.
This looks great! Thanks for posting it, I’ve added it to my backlog.
I jus got it and this was pretty good. It’s nice to have games to just relax
Looks really good thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks for the recommendation! This definitely gives me nostalgia to Rythem Heaven on Nintendo consoles (still waiting for one for the Switch btw)
I would love a new Rhythm Heaven game! I did see that this party rhythm game was announced for Switch recently but I’m not sure that it’s really what I’m looking for: https://youtu.be/-RhYKb0IzNs
