    I have had work on and off my entire life with a slew of careers that went nowhere, I know the hand Ill have by 65 and it isn’t good. I’m preparing now though with some sort of position I can work from home which is stupid advantageous.

    I don’t look forward to, or count on retirement. You can’t know what shape you’ll be in by 65, you may be a spry active 65 year old, or have constant pain and be unable to walk more then 30 feet. A lot of people don’t even make it to retirement, or die a year or two after retirement. I’m saving for retirement, and I should be okay, but it isn’t the dream to me it appears to be to every one else.

    The article brings up a good point, that some people do live much longer than their retirement savings can account for. Our economic system really seems to wring every ounce of productivity out of people, dangle their “golden years” before them as a reward, but the moment you retire society no longer views you as useful any more.
