Or the Chinese state?
They aren’t exactly atheist in terms of their evil acts being justified with atheism, but they were and are 100 percent atheist States and are happy to be militant in terms of annihilating free expression of religion.
They were militant authoritarians who banned religion to remove competition in manipulating the populace. They didn’t do the things they did in the name of atheism.
And the Christians will spin similar narratives about all the evils done in the name of Christianity.
At the end of the day people suck and our institutions are always happy to be violent. Atheism isn’t special. The only upside it has is actually being factually correct.
We do enjoy a pint of stout, don’t we?
