I don’t have that radio, I have a ic-718 with a digirig. I ha e a hard time with ardop. I paid for vara and while it works, it’s also pretty slow sometimes.

Make sure you’ve done the “tune” in vara and adjusted it so your alc is where it tells you to put it. If you can’t get the alc where you need it because it’s too low, you might be able to turn the volume up on that device in your OS.
