trump barely cares what Americans think of him. Imagine how much less he cares what a few thousand Brits think. Starmer is quite literally just down the street and at least with him there is a chance you will have your voice heard.

They repatriate their Canadian profits to the US so your money is helping fund trumps warchest. They also aren’t especially progressive when it comes to dealing with all of their suppliers.

I mean it’s not necessarily the retailers. It’s Canadians themselves who aren’t buying them. If I read “états unis” on a product I will look for an alternative or go without.

Although it’s not insurmountable with the advent of improved battery storage technology, this kind of dramatic change is an issue for existing baseload infrastructure. The French grid is basically designed around a nuclear baseload which many would already consider ‘green.’ Nuclear also comes with a very high capital investment, typically from public funds, and energy prices dropping below a certain threshold could impact repayment, public debt and interest costs etc.

The US and Canada both have dairy tariffs in place. However, they functionally do not exist because they are only applied after a quota is met. For example, last year Canada charged a 0% tariff on all US dairy imports because the total volume of trade never breached the quota limit. This has basically been the case since NAFTA.

Canada, on average, actually charges lower tariffs than the US. That was true before Trump’s trade war and remains true today.
