Breastmints was on my old list of band names.
Is that Caine’s famous milk and cigarette casserole?
They stole the sound from French letters during the Franco-Swedish War.

Sometimes, on a walk or a bike ride, I’ll pass a yard with some chickens and it always makes me happy. There’s something to this.
Is a substack just a blog, or am I missing something?

Gaming@lemmy.world•What's going on over at dwarf fortress?English
81·9 days agoTarn mentioned a couple of his favorite bugs in this interview:
My favorites are the one where the farmer walked over to the furniture stockpile, grabbed a bed, walked over to his farm and planted it, and the one with the injured hammerer. The hammerer is the dwarven executioner. When both of his arms were broken and he was unable to hold his hammer to administer Dwarven Justice, he still went ahead with the punishment, but he bit his victims. This included shaking his head vigorously and tearing their arms off, which he then held in his mouth for years.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•enshittification is inherent to our culture and the only thing that prevented it in the past was slow communication.
3·10 days agoI’d recommend reading Enshittification by Cory Doctorow if you’re interested in the subject. He argues that there are some specific causes. To name a few:
- The US has been lax on enforcing antitrust laws, meaning there are fewer and larger companies, and less competition forcing them to not be shitty
- The power of these large companies has also allowed regulatory capture
- Technology has allowed them to do a lot more shitty things and obfuscate bad practices. This includes being able to communicate faster as well as other things.
