Promising to use the notwithstanding clause means the laws they intend to pass will fail to pass a charter challenge. That should alarm anyone.

If they were to do this, the law would only stand for 5 years before being subject to challenge again, and inevitably it will fail (which is why they used notwithstanding), and the people who were harmed by the government’s use of notwithstanding will sue the government for the violation of their rights and they will win.

We only need to look at Ontario and how it went with Ford’s use.

lol I feel you there. This is why I’ve enjoyed game jams recently, the built-in deadline keeps me from getting too deep in the weeds and losing interest in a project.

That is very interesting, never heard of OpenSCAD before. I could definitely see this helping with asset creation, I’d be interested to see if anyone has something like this. I’m heavily dependent on Blender but my modelling skills are beginner level so something like this would probably help me too.

I believe this won’t hurt as much as people assume. It might actually break through conservative users’ media bubble a little bit because their algorithm is going to push this story down their throats as rage-bait but it also brings to their attention the real divide in the Conservative party currently. Something that might not have reached their eyes otherwise.

It’s probably a dumb mistake by overly eager staffers, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is somewhat calculated.
