To add to this, it’s sunken cost fallacy at its strongest. They’re not just letting go of feeling angry. They’re letting go of their entire identity. Their identity IS hatred and suppression so to admit this is wrong is to admit every motive, decision and belief in their life up to this point is also wrong. People don’t want to believe they could have made that change years or even decades ago because the only one stopping them was themselves.

Still a good read, though.
This is really good except the fact that it looks like we’re facing the back based on the ceiling.

movies@piefed.social•I recently got into collecting dvds / bluerays
9·4 days agoPoor Things is so absolutely bizarre and Emma Stone was phenomenal in the role. Willem DeFoe was also at his weirdest here. It’s hard to recommend, just with the sheer amount of grotesque scenes, but anyone that I think will take to it, I recommend it.

Cartoon is the one I rewatched. I remember the old live action also being good though.
He even doom-wrote his own post – No one uses em dashes in the real world.
I think I remember seeing this when it was new. Oh no I’m old.
I recently rewatched the original and had forgotten just how well they portray her evil. Even as an adult I was actively repulsed the same way I would be if I met her in real life. Classic Disney definitely had some incredible villain writing.
Lemmy is the place I go to specifically avoid this sort of censorship. As people get more and more attached to the idea of becoming “internet famous”, the more they will censor themselves to appease the algorithm.
Your problem will only worsen over time until something dramatic about the internet changes.
Whole Foods is also the only Food distributor. Let’s hope you skipped some meals to save some of your rations for such an emergency. Saving rations is also punishable by death.

Games@lemmy.world•Dragon Age veteran says scrapped Anthem Next "could have been" up there with No Man's Sky's legendary turnaroundEnglish
18·6 days agoI’ve watched a few videos on the game and with this claim, I think they would have needed the ten years that NMS had, but there just isn’t as much of a unique idea underneath. Unless I was missing something Anthem was just a really pretty looter shooter with a cool suit.
It’s a pretty game, I’ll give it that, but they would have had to strip and rebuild the gameplay loop pretty much from scratch to make it that much of a success story.
Looking into it, there’s a range of standards for Blu-Ray in terms of video quality. I doubt there are a ton of discs that can’t afford a few of those 25-50GB. Just spitballing ways to make it approachable rather than say only one way is correct. There’s all sorts of fancy stuff going on with DTS. Maybe they could work compression into part of the standard and just include alternate mixes.

Anyone with brain cells already knew this, but thanks for the reassurance.
