You are misunderstanding the problem. John Oliver, like Veritasium in the post’s video, is talking about the health risks of PFOS like C8 and GenX which are PFAS used in the production of other PFAS like Teflon. PFOS are able to enter the bloodstream and have proven carcinogenic effects. However, although PFOS are used in the production of Teflon, they are not found on a non-stick pan. Teflon molecules are too big and too inert to enter the bloodstream and will simply pass through the body when ingested. So scratching a non-stick pan and eating the flakes wouldn’t really do anything, I don’t think I’d have to prove that by doing it.
