This kind of reasoning immediately makes me think of MLK’s famous quote:

There was an Italian socialist politician called Giacomo Matteotti who got disappeared after he spoke up against the fascist regime. It marks the turning point for the Italian dictatorship. If this century is truly a Disney bad reboot of the previous, we could be seeing some similarities with Mamdani.
I doubt entrenched powers would let the mayor of the biggest US city actually do anything radical like what he campaigned for. Capitalists will collaborate with politicians to either have him removed or make him woefully inefficient. It will definitely be an uphill battle.
From my (fortunately) brief experience in software consulting, I can confirm that is an important unwritten rule of the job. It doesn’t matter what exactly you sell to customers, as long as they are willing to buy it and come back. It explains why a lot of software is dogshit.

13·20 days agoExactly. There is a rich tradition of Christian socialism and Christian communism. Even the communist group that Marx and Engels joined up with practiced christian communism and utopian socialism before moving away to a more secular and materialist version. The Communist Manifesto marks this turning point well.
Of course, M&E argue that Christianity is a tool used to blunt the edge of revolutionary socialism and keep it back in line where it can’t do any harm. Like the other forms of socialism (including that dreaded one) that are explicitly designed to recuperate the more radical ideas to a place where they can be more comfortably controlled by the ruling class.
