  • I just had an appointment today and got switched to monotherapy! I hated Spiro so damn much! I’m so happy you got to get off it too!

I’m taking a blood pressure medicine Cozaar that also preserves potassium so the doctor was like wtf, it’s actually dangerous for you to be on Spiro, why did our other provider do this?

I had to tell them about all the negative side effects like the light headedness and dizziness and dehydration and dry skin. I was really suffering.

They had me on 0.1mg Dotti patches at first for a month and then I insisted that the levels were too low (like 54pg/ml) and they agreed and gave me Delestrogen, 0.15ml of 20mg/ml weekly or 3mg a week. Just had my fourth appointment ever and they agreed to bump me up to 0.2ml which is 4mg a week. They said that’s the max dose they will prescribe though. They said that 0.2ml of 20mg/ml would be 5mg a week but I think they did the math wrong so hopefully I can go up to 5mg/week later.

I am wondering how much you take and if you all think that my dose is a good one. I think 4mg a week is still a little low and I would like it to be 6mg but maybe I can like just take some extra estrogen on the side or something because I still have some patches. I even have a vial of DIY estradiol enanthate that someone sent me but it was a long time ago so I think it’s past the ten months that stuff is supposed to last.

  • Not a doctor. But YMMV! Talk to an endocrinologist if you can but they will probably tell you that you need to freeze sperm if you want to be 100% sure to preserve fertility. That’s what I did and I kinda regret it because it took freaking ages and delayed my HRT date, and I was only able to afford it due to the cushy union healthcare plan covering it through Progyny. It’s still going to cost me freaking $800 a year to keep jizz on ice and I have to save for it throughout the year. It’s really important for my partner to have bio kids, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have done this. If you are able to, you can pay out of pocket for sperm banking and it will be like $1500 supposedly.

You probably don’t need to bank before trying HRT. The fertility effects take a while. Lower doses tend not to affect it. If I got a sperm analysis right now I bet they’d tell me I still have swimmers.

Anecdote: A lady I know went off E in order to have a kid with her partner (who went off T to do so as he is a trans guy) and she was able to conceive after going off for a couple months.

  • lol, Starbucks laments that people actually know about coffee there now.

Nowadays people in China have access to amazingly cheap coffee grinders, because many great ones are made there (DF series, Timemore). Their colonial projects in Africa have resulted in relationships with lots of African coffee farmers. The Chinese province of Yunnan has coffee farming in the mountains and I really want to try some, one of these days. I think burman coffee has some green from there. They also have access to lots of coffee grown in Vietnam where the historical patron client relationship of tribute and suzerainty between the two countries has resulted in lasting coffee relationships. I find that Chinese roasteries I have seen online tend to have a lot of information about their beans published, as well as extensive cupping notes.

Specialty coffee in China is probably a more innovative scene than the West Coast USA one but I don’t have access to everything they’ve got in terms of beans and equipment and vice versa.
