The house was built in 1969. Circles were peak modernity back then!
I hatelove this house, you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to live there but it is definitely achieving some kind of look…sort of like Flintstones porno set vibes.
Where do I find it? I’m using Connect but I couldn’t find the button on desktop either.
It appears to not yet be ready
butterslapsto Wisconsin@midwest.social•Wisconsin Teacher Accused of Having Sex with 8th Grade Student, Buying Him a Gun on His BirthdayEnglish5·2 years agoThe first thing that comes to mind is Brock Turner. He raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. To you does that fall under “violent rape” or “having sex with someone too drunk to consent”? In my view it’s both. The violence is inherent in the act of being violated. People need to err on the side of consent or accept the risk of being called a rapist.

butterslapsto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•It's probably more difficult for kids to throw house parties nowadays when their parents are out of town due to how accessible security cameras are.English39·2 years agoBack when I was a teen, my folks would go away for a month and a half every summer and leave us kids behind (we were teenagers and didn’t want to go) and obviously we would throw parties. One year I had cleaned the house really well and thought there was no way they would know. My dad came home and that’s how I learned he keeps two cold beers in the fridge for when he gets home. And they were gone.
He wasn’t mad we threw parties, he wasn’t mad we were underage drinking, but he was mad his two cold getting-home beers had been drank and not replaced. And that’s how I found out my parents are humans who knew we were having parties and they didn’t care as long as we didn’t die or mess with their shit.

butterslapsto Futurama @lemmy.world•Futurama Revival to Cover COVID, Bitcoin, NFTs, and MoreEnglish1·2 years agoWell, I don’t disagree with you about what they did to Clone High, but Futurama’s history with cancellations/reboots is pretty unique, and they’ve gotten pretty good at it.
When I first watched the one with Susan Boyle/Susan the Boil, I rolled my eyes because that was already old news when the episode came out. But upon rewatch, that episode did give us some great jokes (“Shut up and take my money!”) and good satire.
They also sometimes do classic movie plots or “scary” episodes, and each season has an anthology. I for one am confident this season will be entertaining.
(also, I love the anthology episodes, sue me lol)
First time seeing this, thanks! Most of them are spot on. Kif needs to be squishier!

butterslapsto Today I Learned (TIL)•Today I learned that oranges in the USA are allowed to be artificially dyed orange by the FDA and are commonly sold that way to boost eye appeal6·2 years agoIn the 1920s a bunch of tobacco salesmen decided that they could make women associate cigarettes with the women’s rights movement. Smoking was previously seen as “unladylike”, but thanks to a handful of well-placed marketing campaigns, they were able to get women smoking almost overnight. What an accomplishment!
Personally, I’m of the opinion that marketing/advertising is one of the most insidious problems society has.
butterslapsto worldnews@lemmy.world•[@worldnews](https://lemmy.world/c/worldnews) Passenger rescued after falling off 10th deck of cruise ship, Coast Guard says1·2 years agoThat’s pretty much my reaction too. This passenger survived against considerable odds. First of all, she basically fell off a ten storey building, and THEN there’s water, sharks, the ship’s engine, etc. I hope she realizes how fortunate she is.
Remember that kid a few weeks ago who fell off a very small ship, drifted out of sight of the many witnesses, and was never seen again? Haunting.
butterslapsto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•A drunken wizard offers you $20 million if you let him send you to the world of the last video game you played, and you survive for one year. Do you accept?English8·2 years agoAbsolutely. I was playing Cities: Skylines.
I would spend that year driving around in my doughnut truck, working at Dino Oil or Healthy Weeds, enjoy my weekends at the parking lot or the bouncy castle, and run to high ground during the next tsunami.
After winning the cash I’d ask to be transported to the Ark universe, and then I’d spend the rest of my life in a glass mansion, training armies of dinosaurs to do my bidding.
JK, I’d probably spend the rest of my very short life running naked from a dilophosaur while screaming. Still more fun than reality.
Not sure where this particular house is located but in places like Spain and South America it’s pretty common for houses to have tiled floors all over.
