Was it your intent to bring their cowardice into starker relief, or to pretend that somehow they’re excused from acting like humans with agency because… “it’s hard?”
The American populace has capitulated at every turn.
Their “peaceful protests” have served only to embolden the Nazis by clearly demonstrating how little of a threat they pose.
Every American who isn’t throwing punches is complicit.

The entire US populace is, apart from one guy currently in the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center.
And the entire country is okay with it. They would do something about it otherwise.
Sucked MUCH more to hear the entire democratic party wring their hands and come out immediately with statements about how “political violence is unacceptable under any circumstances.”
If it was someone actually attempting to make a positive impact I think law enforcement and news agencies will be heavily incentivized to bury the story ASAP.
