The user interface itself is amazing, true seamless multiple device support - including web clients (with your drafts synced on all your devices too), live location sharing, polls, live voice channels, good stickers, bots, public groups/channels, 2gb file sharing, video messages, usernames, etc.
Signal is only good at doing one thing, and that’s encryption. It lacks so many useful features that Telegram has.

ToNIXto General Discussion@lemmy.world•Lemmy.world active users is tapering off while other servers are gaining serious traction.191·2 years agoI have an account on lemmy.world, but when I ping it, I’m in the 100ms. I ended up on lemmy.ca where the ping is 3ms average, it makes a big difference in responsiveness.
ToNIXto Linux@lemmy.ml•PSA: the OpenStreetMap-community has arrived to Lemmy as wellEnglish3·2 years agoOrganic Maps is indeed open source and available through f-droid/GitHub/Telegram.
It’s actively developed and it’s UI is more easier to use than OSMAnd. The search accuracy is also way better than in OSMAnd, in which I often can’t find places.

ToNIXto Linux@lemmy.ml•Advice for a middle-age, moderately pc knowledgeable person to finally switch to or become proficient with Linux?3·2 years agoHave you tried OnlyOffice? It’s pretty much like MS office and documents compatibility is really good.
I think that the lemmy.world instance had problems with the influx of users, not really Jerboa. I’ve switched to a smaller instance and it’s rock solid.
ToNIXto Android@lemmy.world•What are some useful apps that are only found on F-Droid?English2·2 years agoYeah, you have more control on the widgets in Kvaesitso.
ToNIXto Android@lemmy.world•What are some useful apps that are only found on F-Droid?English3·2 years agoKvaesitso ia great, but I keep coming back to Kiss. Having your most used/history apps easily accessible from bottom to top (instead of being only at the top of the apps folder) is so convenient and easier accessible. You don’t have to move your hands to the top of the phone.
Edit: I missed a specific setting that allows you to have the search page reversed (bottom to top), so favorites and most used are at the bottom. It’s definitely better, but I still fall back to Kiss.
ToNIXto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy.world has grown by about 66.6% since reddit's API shutdownEnglish2·2 years agoGood tips! I should have explained a bit more, but by getting a server as close as possible, your ping should theoretically be lower than an instance that’s far from you (I know, the internet is not a straight line to the server).
The best way to test this is by pinging the server in a CMD prompt/terminal.
ToNIXto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy.world has grown by about 66.6% since reddit's API shutdownEnglish2·2 years agoYeah, I also have one on lemmy.ca, the ping is more consistent (both are 2-3ms).
Signal fanboys downvoting you.

Try Telegram. It’s feature rich and works flawlessly on multiple devices.
Because the only good thing about Signal is it’s encryption.
