Oh for sure it was a great season! News about the change of showrunner and lower budget has me worried going forward though…

It has been a while since I played it, but I really enjoyed it and it didn’t feel too long. I loved the Canticle for Leibowitz easter egg too.

As a big book fan from childhood, I really liked this season up until the final reveal. Although I’m starting to wonder whether there is another layer of deception possibly going on. Also, was there a stinger after the credits?!

Who cares about this guy and his garbage game. The most interesting stuff being done in the gaming space is NOT coming from studios and people like him.

I’ll start - I’m klanky and I’m 41/M, live in the mid-atlantic of the US. I don’t get much time to game these days with an ADHD 8-year old, but I still enjoy story-rich space adventures and strategy games.

I first encountered Star Control in the form of Super Melee at a friends house in the 90s when we were kids. We didn’t even realize it had an adventure game component. Later, around 99/00 I played the CD version of Star Control 2 and fell in love with the universe and characters (RIP Fwiffo in the Sa-Matra battle!). A true sequel to SC2 has been something I never thought I’d see, so I’m super excited for Children of Infinity and looking forward to discussing it and the rich universe and lore with other Lemmings.

I still have my original photocopy of a photocopy starmap with my notes written on it from when I played through the game. I’ll get around to posting a picture of it sometime.

Appreciate the feedback, I guess I’m just looking for the incentive to actually use all the cool systems the game seems to have.

I actually have Elite and have spent some time (and had fun!) with it but again I hit that wall of ‘But why should I care? Why am I doing this? What is my incentive?’ I guess I’m just an exceedingly boring person who has no imagination. :-)

How about The Long Dark? A struggle to survive in a cold, dead world. The atmosphere is superb and I think it pairs well with a melancholy mood. Sorry to hear you’re dealing with crap.

Yeah I’m super excited about it. The original creators also had a hand in it, although one of them ‘retired’ after finishing the writing. Fred Ford is still working on the programming side.

If anything, I found it at best too earnest and self-congratulatory. Like, I love Star Trek, but it’s just a TV show! Still enjoyed the episode however.

I’ve heard the same about Artemis.

I know some people consider Weir to be an Ernest Cline-esque hack. I can’t comment as I haven’t read any Weir stuff myself.
