  • Interesting how the author omits hundreds of victims from Islam terrorism. Also, no undrstanding of the the impact of the constant and violent demands from some Muslim French citizens that schools, hospitals and administrations accommodate their beliefs, like changing school curricula or demanding that only female doctors treat women. Since 1905, no church, religious congregation or faith-based community have had any say into public affairs. People who want to change that are hitting the bedrock of the French republic. Anglo-American columnists keep spreading the narrative of a fundamentally islamophobic France and they keep missing the point. Yes there is widespread racism in France, particularly against Arabs and, to some extent, against Muslims. This racism is rooted in bigotry and xenophobia. The fight between the French republic and Islam fundamentalism is another relam altogether. Pretending that the two issues overlap is only serving racists.
