I think the most concerning thing would be the radiation that it would give off. Aside from that, I’m not really sure it there would be more than a possible spark as you mentioned, though it may also depend on the size of the atom.

There is a bit of a threshold between an innocent hobby and a cult, but once crossed, it’s… yeah…
I think they’re referring to how vehicle-centric planning for cities is more common (as opposed to walking or human-powered locomotion, like biking or skating)
It’s a piece of poster board which is pretty much like cardstock. You can usually find some at the stationary section in a lot of stores in the US.

It more or less provides an extra cushion to prevent restart, as a coat; harness/lanyard; or anything else can’t inadvertently release it if it gets caught. The button may get detached but won’t allow the system to run. It also just requires a tad more thought and intention to release it.
There are also ones that need a key to release.
