  • I never understood this stereotype (aboot vs about). I’m Canadian, lived here all my life, my family is all Canadian and all have lived here all their lives. I’ve got family all across the country, from the western coast of BC to the eastern coast of Newfoundland, from the northern stretches of Nunavut to the most southern tip of Ontario, and very rarely have I ever heard it pronounced that way. It’s actually really funny as a Canadian to look up “how to speak like a Canadian” and watch how awful most of the “tips” are. I’d recommend it.

  • Yeah there’s a fast forward button. RetroArch isn’t an emulator as such, or at least not in the same way others are, I don’t quite understand how it all works but you choose your emulator core and different cores have different settings. So if you don’t like the FF of one core, just change your core. I’m not sure it saves carry over when changing cores so maybe experiment when core settings before making any progress in the game.

I’ve been using melonDS for SoulSilver and it’s been great, FF is probably 2x speed on that one. It might be adjustable, I’m not sure. When I was playing Crystal the FF was probably closer to 10x speed, it was a bit much. But there’s lots of choices for cores so you can play around with it and see what you like.

  • iOS just got a fairly major overhaul to its UI too. Liquid Glass, they’re calling it. Screenshots don’t really look great but using it since yesterday, I actually prefer it. Feels a little retro-futuristic. Buttons have clearly defined edges again, everything is now transparent, and it has the same sort of distortion you’d get with those glass blocks that used to be popular in swimming pools and such (at least around here, not sure if that was universal). Probably my favourite look of iOS actually. That might be a super unpopular opinion, I’m not sure. I haven’t kept up on community opinions of iOS in a long time.
