AshwagOPMto Waterloo•Lower rent is on its way in Waterloo Region after hard-hit tenants absorb a decade of increasesEnglish1·1 month agoRight now it’s currently cutting American social media out. It confuses me all the buy Canadian stuff being on an American run website.
Ashwagto Canada•I’m Canadian And Love Visiting The U.S., But I Refuse To Travel There Again Until Trump Is GoneEnglish5·1 month agoI was planning a trip to PA and Las Vegas in 2025.
Now those have been changed to France and Amsterdam. It’ll cost me much more, however I’m not going to America for the foreseeable future.
This is very exciting! I have no idea why we keep buying California Reds in Ontario when we can be drinking either Canadian wines or even old world reds from Italy or France.
They’re colocation in a BC datacenter. So likely not what you’re looking for unless you have hardware to use, and just are looking for rack space.
Ashwagto Ontario•Doug Ford announces Ontario ban on American liquor in response to U.S. tariffsEnglish7·2 months agoDespite the Doug hate, with this being done in conjunction with other provinces it will result in billions of dollars in lost trade with the states which is what we should be excited for.
More housing is more housing.
AshwagOPto FediLore + Fedidrama•lemmy.ml is overloaded, use other instances instead - Lemmy.caEnglish41·2 years agoYeah, I’m curious at the scaling problems. 1000 active users isn’t that many. Especially if this is touted as being the next reddit. There are many subreddits with orders of magnitude more active users.
AshwagOPto FediLore + Fedidrama•lemmy.ml is overloaded, use other instances instead - Lemmy.caEnglish4·2 years agoMaybe I’m crazy however if this is the instance run by developers. Is $30-100/month really impossible to handle? I figured this would be their more exciting time.
Ashwagto FediLore + Fedidrama•Fedi-tips's classic "don't use the Lemmy (software)" post due to the Lemmy devs being communistEnglish21·2 years agoThe software is distinct from the opinions of the developer in my opinion… I mean I’m not a communist however I enjoyed playing Tetris…
AshwagOPto Ontario•If the hot weather keeps up, Ontario is ‘at risk’ of power shortages this summer, report findsEnglish1·2 years agoI’ve long wondered if I should have a generator in the garage… I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
Ashwagto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•How much money does Lemmy.ml need to temporarily boost their servers?6·2 years agoSo reading this correctly, it’s currently a hosting bill of 30 Euro a month?
Ashwagto FediLore + Fedidrama•Beehaw doubles it's userbase in ~24hrs in response to reddit API exorcism - thread receives 185 and counting comments, seemingly breaking the old beehaw longest thread comment count.6·2 years agoI want Lemmy in general to take off more now than ever, but I imagine in 30 days will be the real reckoning. Not everyone subscribes to /r/redditdev and /r/modnews. When they cut off Apollo and RIF everyone will be looking for a new location.
AshwagtoLemmy.ca Support / Questions•Some communities on other servers not working/federated?3·2 years agoI’ve had the same questions, so I’d love to know too! :D
Well not going to lie, a RSS Feed for some subs to feed them would make sense. Post the top 3-5 news stories into /c/Canada /c/Ontario etc.
Another silly question. Is there a reason lemmy.ca isn’t listed on https://join-lemmy.org/instances?
Cool, I figured it would need more resources. But I suppose scaling is tomorrows problem. :D
Hopefully we can see some uptick in engagement on the sites as well. Creating an account is the first step, however we need to build the communities.
Hello everyone,
Still trying to get used to the new setup over on Lemmy, however trying to make some new communities work. Want to get /c/ontario and /c/waterloo running with some active discussions and people. Hopefully we can make a difference. :)
Edit: I’d also love to know the hardware that you’re running this on!
I still think it’s too early. If we look at 2024 it wasn’t a a done deal by race 4. I still am living with Ferrari hopium.
