Man, I’m not generally in favour of market consolidation, but a lot of the fears people were bringing up in that article are way overblown. If RBC were trying to buyout one of the other big 5, then I’d be much more concerned. If HSBC doesn’t want to play in the Canadian market anymore, RBG is likely to end up with a decent chunk of those assets anyway.

I don’t know what legal grounds they’d have to block it anyway
