Howcome the raiders couldnt keep rich bisaccia as the special teams coordinator still why did they have to full on fire him from being interim hc AND special teams coordinator like ig i could understand him losing the interim hc job but howcome we couldnt keep him as the special team’s coordinator?

Keeping Rich on would’ve comprised a new head coach trying to establish his culture.
Ronald McDonald was probably so insecure that he didn’t want the guy the team loved in the building. Plus, he wasn’t associated with the Patriots.
Why would any HC coming in want to keep that around? The guy that literally lead the team to the playoffs the year before looking over your shoulder the entire time? It’s not that complicated
New coaches that come in don’t want to have to deal with the possibility of the players still respecting another coach more, causing new coach to lose locker rooms rather quickly.
New coaches want their own staff. And do you really think JMcD would have wanted a reminder like Rich there?

I think we could have kept him, if McDaniels wanted him as ST coordinator. He was under contract. But usually new head coaches fire almost everyone and bring in their own people.
Every head coach is going to want to bring on their staff. Coaches also don’t want to get a demotion. In Rich’s shoes, why stay with the raiders? By not remaining the head coach, there’s really not much he could do in his eyes to move up. Going elsewhere gives him a fresh start.

Most new coaches would not retain the old staff, especially if they served as an interim head coach. They don’t want a divided locker room. And with that said, now think about how insecure Josh McDaniels is and how fragile his ego is. There’s no way he would retain a well liked member of the previous staff.

That’s some Daniel Snyder type shit right there. Any coach worth their salt would never put themselves in this position. The only coach that would accept a job with remnants of the old coaching in place would be someone young and unproven, in that case why not just go with Basacia. Not to mention how it looks for Basacia and his pride hanging around an organization that didn’t “think he was good enough” to stay the main guy. Funny thing is this kinda happened to me. I got a “battlefield promotion” to head up a division of the company that I worked for. After about a year they decided to go with someone else but kept me on as a “special consultant”. I think they kinda thought I would quit given the apparent “demotion” but I didn’t care because they paid me the same for about a 1/3 of the work and even gave me annual pay bumps. I left after 3 more years for a better run organization. The difference is that NFL coaches have a much more public profile and that is very important for getting that next job and continuing to move up the ranks.
