Postmedia Network Canada Corp. has confirmed that it is in talks to merge with Nordstar Capital LP, the owner of Metroland Media Group and the Toronto Star.

The proposal would see the Toronto Star maintain editorial independence through the incorporation of a new company that would manage its editorial operations.
“But for how long?” is the question. It seems naïve to assume that the execs at Postmedia won’t eventually make editorial demands.
It also must really suck for Althia Raj who was blindsided by Huffington Post’s closure, just to have Postmedia swoop in on her after moving to the Toronto Star.
