For those out of the loop, Olivia is a former school board trustee, city councillor, and NDP MP.

As well, she is the widow of Jack Layton.

Her victory tonight, on a progressive, renter-focused campaign, is a massive
win for the left!

The major problem with negative campaigning… Seeing STOP CHOW made me look into why people wanted to stop her. Her platform seemed alright to me.

So after checking to make sure my name wasn’t also on the ballot (seems like everyone in the city was on that thing LOL) I voted Chow.

Seems they could not STOP CHOW after all haha.

Congratulations Toronto. I hope she puts some investment into public housing and that that takes off nationwide.

Why tf does this matter? Let her stand on her own two feet. Who she fucked shouldn’t matter.

I think she should be defined by her own achievements, which is why I listed those first. But it’s a fun fact for people out of the loop that she was married to Jack - a lot of younger people don’t know that.

I think it also gives her a bit of credos.

Of course, it’s not an accomplishment, but it’s definitely a testament of her character. If you believe that Jack Layton was authentically progressive, it reasons that his wife is too.

They clearly deeply influenced each other. Why are you so upset about it, do you feel like people are not giving her the credit she deserves? Because I don’t see that happening here.
