Hi, This update happened faster than I was planning since a lot of these features came together quickly. Large features added yesterday are 2FA support, a markdown editor, and swipe actions on posts and comments. I also reworked some of the API functions so I can immediately update the state with what I think it will be instead of waiting on an api response to update the view. So things should feel overall snappier now.

On another note, thank you everyone for all of the support! We’re at 2.1k active users now and quickly growing. I hope we can make this the best native application for browsing Lemmy and your feedback really helps!

Also, I’m looking for a new app icon. Hopefully something a bit sleeker. If you have design skills please get in touch!

Changelog:

  • Feature: added Image uploads

  • Feature: added markdown editor for new posts and comments

  • Added rounded corners to top of images in full width view

  • Added 2FA support

  • NSFW thumbnails now always show when inside the person view

  • Made clicking into comment from inbox faster

  • Added delete post button

  • Added community selector when making new post (fixes a “community not found” error)

  • Added NSFW toggle for new posts

  • now show instance name in subscription list

  • Added swipe actions (upvote, save, downvote on posts and upvote, save, reply on comments).

Love this app. Will swipe actions be a setting that can be turned off? I find it to be highly sensitive and I swipe without meaning to.

    Thanks for a great app.

I found swipe actions by accident while using the app for the first time (I just downloaded it) because of the high sensitivity, LOL.

This looks great from the things I’ve seen and heard. I’m definitely interested, and I’d download this app in a heartbeat if it became FLOSS software like Infinity was.

Just downloaded, as I was getting frustrated with Jerboa. So far I’m liking Connect very much, and I have a few suggestions for improvements that might be worth looking at:

    • It seems tapping a comment expands the comment options menu (upvote, etc.), and you need to long-press the comment to collapse it and its children. I would love to be able to switch this behavior around (tap to collapse), as well as the option to always show comment options.

    • This comment field is using only half my screen. I would love it if it used all the available space, shifting the formatting bar down to rest on top of the keyboard. There is a lot of wasted space at the moment.

    • The colored vertical bars that show comment indentation have a lot of spacing. They would work perfectly fine with a few pixels worth of width and no extra spacing.

    • I don’t know how, but this comment field is wreaking absolute havoc with my keyboard 😟 I’m using Gboard, and it’s behaving completely different here than in any other app on my Android phone. Swipe trails are jumping all over the place; after typing a word wrong and clicking backspace, instead of deleting the word, only the last character gets deleted. Tappinga single letter word (e.g. ‘a’) aftera swiped word doesn’t adda space like normal. I didn’t fix this manually in the last sentence as an example.

Looking forward to future updates, and I’ll be back with more feedback when and if I come up with some 😊

Hm, just installed the app, but sadly it seems to crash right when opening. Using a Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 (folded).

Appreciate this app a lot, coming from boost for reddit, it’s already a similar experience. I wish there was more customization for themes like in boost. But ik that will take a lot more work and there’s more important things tho.

When i go to edit a comment the old text doesn’t show up like it used to, i have to copy/paste it. Already fixed, fast as always

And every time a post doesn’t load i get

Error: post view request to Instance of 'Future<String>' timed out

Then i can refresh and the post will usually show

Hey, when I write a comment, it shows that the comment has 2 points immediately without anyone upvoting it, shouldn’t it show 1 point instead?

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, though.

Thanks for the app, I tried and failed to be able to sign into Jerboa, and Connect so far seems good. Only one real gripe to this point - when editing a comment the edit button opens a blank box - so to be able to edit your comment you have to go back to it, copy the text, go back to edit, paste what you’ve written, edit it, THEN click edit. Really very frustrating lol

Images & markdown editor were the two main things holding the app back, in my opinion.

You’re doing good work. Maybe I won’t need Sync for Lemmy after all, the way this app is progressing…

Is there a password field limit? I keep getting an incorrect password error and the password is confirmed to work with the website and jerboa. I suspect it is the length because the password is over 30 characters.

There shouldn’t be a limit. It might be related to special characters? I’ll add a reveal icon in the next release to make this easier to debug.

I have percent signs, asterisks and probably some brackets.

        Thanks
