Knowing when you’re in over your head, completely stressed out, and will not be able to do the job required is probably one of the most adult things you can do.

      those that don’t

For those who don’t know, who/qui is used here and not that/que. The latter form objectifies people, which some find insulting.

Elle est tout de même devenu mairesse à 21 ans, je pense pas qu’on peut la blamer d’avoir fait un burnout après un giga problème de feux de forêt. Elle a fait sa part!

People did not choose, she was the only candidate.

So basically no one wants that job and she is up to try. I’d buy her a beer for just willing to try and past 2 years.

Judging someone based not on their personal achievements and demonstrated ability but, rather, on the statements of a research paper is what prejudice looks like. Prejudice, if you didn’t know, is the underlying mechanism behind racism and bigotry. So, do you really want to judge her based on what others say or what she has proven herself to be capable of doing?

    …“burnout”

Edit: I’m drawing attention to the title. If you’re offended by the joke, be mad at OP, the one who, you know, made the joke.

Was that supposed to be a joke related to the forest fires?

I’m drawing attention to the post title, which was either a deliberate joke or a very oblivious mistake.

Not a joke unfortunately. But I see how you could interpret it that way.

Getting burntout and staying in the job on principle is not going to help.

You missed this pretty important part of “doing the job”: And when you are unable to do the job, make room for some else to try.

I wish more people had the self-awareness to realize when it’s time to hand off to someone else.

Being a mayor is a really tough job. In no small part because of armchair commentators like you.
