This post feels like an ad. Especially because it’s also posted elsewhere in French.

I was the one that posted it in both QuebecFinance and PersonalFinanceCanada because both populations are different, and we don’t have the same members on both subs. I’ll leave it up for the moment, but will take them down if there are other complaints.

The 200k plus promo last Black Friday was $1500 cash on more favourable terms compared to the 15 Pro they have at MSRP of $1450.

Their 100k range which didn’t really even exist before has gotten substantially better.

Also just to mention two random WS things. WS tax is really good I actually paid $27 for Ufile last year but ended using WS since it had clearer calculation on business expenses. On the flip side as of the last time I looked WS has zero methods of exporting your transactions which I’ve never seen before.

I agree that their promo for 100k looks quite attractive, far more than for 200k : I’d have at least expected higher storage there as 128 GB is quite low.

I’ve been using WS tax for a few years and it’s indeed great. I still follow my transactions manually so the lack of export isn’t that big of a deal fro me, and I’m currently consolidating all my registered accounts with NBDB anyway as they offer support for self-managed RESP, including Quebec provincial grants. WS is still a great option though in my opinion, especially for small accounts.

I don’t see what’s so aggressive about this? They make money by holding your money. It’s in their best interest to incentivize people putting more money with them.

I’ve gotten one notice that this was happening.

Seems like business doing what a business should to grow.

It may just be me, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything remotely equivalent from any other discount broker. That’s basically an immediate 0.74%-1.30% return, and I don’t really see what they’ll gain from it except a larger AUM…

I’ve dealt with Apple once a few years ago for an order north of 100 new gen iPhone a few weeks after they were out, and we only got a 3% discount. I don’t know if they changed their policy since then, but usually, they don’t need to give any discount to sell them, so I wouldn’t expect WS to get a large one.
