Fitting end for human trash. Too bad he didn’t think of it sooner

Misleading title is misleading. He was in an 18wheeler truck, not a dumpster.

“This is a tractor-trailer style (trailer). You know, you picture that 18-wheeler, this is what the trailer would look like. A box trailer is where he was located, right in the back of that,” Sauschuck said. “Some of those trailers are locked. Some of those trailers aren’t. He was found inside one of those boxes that was unlocked from the outside.”

It was the headline in Gnews. I didn’t think about it much but just glad he’s not still on the loose. sort-of clickbait now that you mention, eh.

fta, to be clear, it was a trailer. 8 wheels landing legs. ‘overflow lot’. I used to ‘play’ in and around empty parked trailers. Thing is there is usually only one way in/out, so not that great for hiding in when fleeing and eluding.

Card’s ex-boss told police where to look for him after two failed searches

The owner reportedly called police saying, “this individual knows the property” and urged authorities to examine the trailers in the overflow lot, according to Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck at Saturday’s press conference.

Shockingly, police had already “cleared” that area twice, the commissioner admitted, as part of a “very intensive manhunt” that lasted days.

Not really a fitting end, he escapes any long term consequences of his actions. Unlike families of his victims.

Society needed him to have his day in court and for him to be put away for the rest of his life, acting as a soap dish for whoever… Dead he gets away nearly free of consequences.

There are no consequences in our laws that actually fit crimes like this. Retributive justice is a farce and an insult to humanity.

For sure. What I like to ask people who (very understandably) seek harsh or cruel punishment in these cases is “Will it help? Or will it just make you feel better and produce a better criminal?”

I wonder, what is the right path for people like this in a just society? Rehab and let them back in society? Lifelong imprisonment somewhere nicer than federal prison? Ideally, in a fantasy world, the former. But I guess latter would the most realistic choice

Mental institution until they are stable.

I don’t know why he was released after just two weeks when he was committed before. Someone fucked up.

Eh, dead is dead we don’t need to worry about him ever doing it again or spreading his sick views in the media.

The echo chambers that built his views still exist, and are at this moment busy grooming the next person who will follow in his footsteps.

Yes and that’s a separate issue to tackle. Him being in prison instead of dead wouldn’t change that.

    I can see it now

Some dumb Republican: “See? We proposed a death penalty for mass shooting and he was scared enough of it he killed himself. Our policies work!”

I would be happier if shooting incidents weren’t literally an everyday issue in the US

Sooo, he climbed into there specifically to off himself? Not his car, or any hotel room or anything… he specifically found the one unlocked container and neatly did the deed?

I’m not a tinfoil hat guy but this is weird. I mean weirder things have happened with an umbrella and jfk but this is quite the neat little bow.

He worked there. Looks like he went to a known location to hide out and off himself.

Other news say he was found in a trailer or shipping container, not a dumpster.

As far as I can see, only OP has said it was a dumpster. The article they shared states he was in a trailer truck.

It was a trailer truck, but some news sites have called it a dumpster because it was parked at a recycling center. The gunman was recently fired from that recycling center, then hid in one of the trucks at the center before offing himself.

think I read he worked near there so probably familiar with hideouts. probably thought about what he had done while police closed in. CSI script writes itself.
