im gonna kinda blabber here.

you ever just want to do something for your interest just to change the next day also what is that called? i have autism, dyslexia, depression and im constantly bored for some reason. i find that im hard to entertain or to find something to do plus i struggle with learning. i really want to create something that i can share with others, maybe a short story? honestly im not sure. i feel like i need a creative hobby and things like sewing or anything to do with fabric dont interest me because i believe i may be a nerd. ive been wanting to do something from a my pc possibly but at this point im not sure anymore. i like dnd but i dont have friends to play with and i dont trust online activities.

If you want something to tinker with on PC, you could try creating your own website from scratch. (neocities.org could be a good place to start) It can be a nice gateway to learning all kinds of things, from image editing to running a server, depending on what you want on the website and how you decide to run it. You could combine the website tinkering with short stories if you wish to write them. Or photography. Poetry. Anything, really. Whatever you put on the site is also very easy to share with others of course.

I know it kind of goes against trouble with learning and not trusting online activities, but I thought it was worth mentioning anyways. I’ve accidentally spent several summers on it without really even realizing. My interest keeps jumping from one thing to another as I get new ideas for things I want to do with the site.

Hey! So you said you like doing things with your PC. I know you said you struggle with learning, but what about starting something you can learn at your own pace and in a fun way? There are loads of sites and apps to help with learning now that kind of gamify the experience If you want to learn to program, for instance, you could try Sololearn. It’s an app built to teach you from the very basics, and it’s built in a way that makes it fun and doesn’t really feel like you’re learning, but discovering. The lessons are very short so you can do it a few minutes at a time or much longer. Then you could use that knowledge to create something to share… a bot, a game, a website? Just a thought.

I have lots of hobbies but I understand the urge to make something to share. I recommend looking for some inspiration. Maybe music, a poem, cooking, drawing or crafting. It’s much easier to make something when you’re inspired with a clear idea.

How would you feel about learning music composition/production? It’s not for everyone, but I’ve been playing instruments from a young age and music has always had an especially strong effect on me.

We’ve talked about creating a wiki for our community, but no one has really jumped on it. If you feel like working on that, that would be cool. You’d have the experience of creating a wiki, learning a ton about autism, and have all the advocacy and education you shared to show for it. Keep in mind that the community is based on an autism acceptance perspective, not really a medical model.

I’d be happy to chat and collaborate with you on it if you’re interested. However, that’s only if you feel like it. Please don’t feel the need to do it unless you absolutely feel driven to do so.
