It was unclear whether body camera footage of the incident existed or if it would be released.

This right here leads me to believe things didn’t happen as they said it happened.

Sent the dude to prison for 20 years, then tried to arrest him again for speeding. I honestly don’t blame him for resisting arrest and fighting back, he had to be terrified of having his freedom taken away again.

I’m very interested in more details coming out, but I have no faith in the “independent” investigation. They haven’t even said whether or not there’s body cam footage FFS.

The system is a failure, we have proof that better systems exist and function in other countries, yet we continue to accept modern slavery and institutional racism. This country is fucked.

Where did you get speeding from? Every article I’ve read won’t say anything specific except that he was killed after being ordered out of the car and complying. This whole deal feels like a contempt of cop scenario that’s about to go full George Floyd 2.0

It’s literally in the article you’re replying to.

Cure was stopped because he was driving at least 90 miles per hour in an area where the speed limit was 70, the New York Times reported, citing a sheriff’s department spokesperson.

And even that assumes the “speeding,” let alone the “resisting arrest and fighting back,” wasn’t a blatant lie to begin with.

America isn’t good. I’m sick of watching America become something not worth respecting and maybe even an entity worthwhile of devoting life to work against to protect others from.
